released on June 18th
New album ‘Twilight of the Innocents’ to follow on July 2nd 2007Following the band's recent return to chart action - the single 'You Can't Have It All' went Top 20 - Ash continue their aural onslaught with news of a new single. The track, entitled 'Polaris', is slated for June 18th and sees songwriter Tim Wheeler candidly narrating a tale of heartbreak. It will be available digitally two weeks earlier, on June 4th.The track itself emerged somewhat simply when Tim happened upon a certain Bono whilst holidaying in the south of France, that meeting concluded with a stay at Bono's residence whereupon Wheeler began writing and playing what was to emerge as 'Polaris'. The song's intro is indeed that original recording as played on Bono's piano and underpinned with strings and led on by the plaintive vocal from Wheeler, 'Polaris' caresses itself before rousing into what has been described "as a chorus as big as a small country"....Having recorded it, the track became the focal point of the band's forthcoming album and it stands up there with some of band's most notable songs - 'Burn Baby Burn', 'Shining Light', ‘Girl From Mars' et al and heralds yet another chapter in the songwriting book of Tim Wheeler.'Polaris' will be available on 2 x 7", CD and download - tracks tbc.
