Ten years ago Darren Hayes was at the beginning of a journey that would result in over 25 million album sales worldwide and two of the biggest Billboard number one hits in chart history. Who would have thought that in the year 2007 he would have said no to the seductive invitation of the majors labels and is instead gearing up to release his latest album on his very own independent label ‘Powdered Sugar’? Darren Hayes is doing things his own way. And he wants everyone to know about it. Out. Personally, professionally and creatively. And for the first time in 10 years, in control of his publishing and recording future. The first taste of music from his forthcoming double Opus ‘This Delicate Thing We’ve Made’ is already causing a storm on MySpace, YouTube and Hayes’ own site. The teaser track ‘Who Would Have Thought’ features a specially commissioned animated video that crashed the website when it debuted last week. With over 300 thousand views since it’s unveiling, reaction from fans and critics alike has been overwhelmingly positive. Continuing on the independent streak, Hayes has been selling out performances in small intimate venues around the world including London, Sydney and New York. Available only to MySpace friends and those quick enough to snap up limited tickets at the box office - all of these shows have sold out in less than 5 minutes and have been an incredible experience for those lucky enough to attend. With only a few more tiny shows planned for London and New York over the coming months, it’s wise to become a friend of Hayes at his official MySpace site www.myspace.com/darrenhayes. This is the only way to be invited to these intimate gigs and find out onsale details.

Darren’s plans for the roll out of the record are unconventional to say the least. The first taster track that Autralia’s Herald Sun describes as sounding like ‘claissic Depeche Mode with goth pop’ influence is the first of many animated shorts that will be unveiled from the record well in advance of the official single. As well as plans for more animated ‘teasers’ there is a club track doing rounds with DJ’s around the world as well as bootleg mix tapes that Hayes himself has been hiding at venues when he plays.

Darren will keep enticing you with new music until the first official single out in July followed by the album ‘This Delicate Thing We’ve Made’ out 20th August.Darren Hayes
