My First Tooth

My First Tooth

New track, Heartbeat Retreat, is set to become the second single to be taken from My First Tooth’s forthcoming album Love Makes Monsters, and will be released on March 4th, via Alcopop! Records.

The song follows on from Past Broadcasts which acts an exciting springboards from debut record, Territories, which was out in 2010 making fans from the likes of The Fly Magazine & The Word.

Front man Ross K. Witt says; 'Musically it's much more of a band effort this time around.

Whereas before I was mostly coming to the band with fully formed songs and we were figuring out what worked, this time I was bringing ideas to them a lot earlier and letting them grow together as a band.

‘The overriding theme of the record seems to be relationships. Or more, the wrong relationships. The relationships we convince ourselves are right because we're told being alone and being lonely are the same thing.'

The album’s recording took My First Tooth from Berlin to Bridlington, via London and saw them working with producers James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses/Dry The River), Peter Abbott (Athlete/Misty’s Big Adventure) and Paul Pilot (Duke Special/‘Territories’) to create a simply wonderful record, that draws in inspiration as much from Bruce Springsteen as it does the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel, Eels and Okkervil River.

Lyrically, the record veers frequently between twisted fairytales, painfully raw accounts of failing relationships and bittersweet childhood memories.

The band have made themselves a firm fixture of the UK festival circuit playing at Glastonbury, Summer Sundae, Bestival, Truck, 2000 Trees, The Great Escape, SWN, TGE and many more. NME described them as simply "unmissable".
