Hannah is one of the most promising female performers to stumble onto the music scene at the moment, and with her awesome new single, Shadow on the Wall released next month, you really need to get in there before everyone else! I caught up with the beautiful little starlet for a chat…

Hello there, what are you up to?

Hello! At the moment I'm getting ready to release my new single 'Shadow on the Wall' in November. We shot the video for it last week and it got its first radio play on Radio 1 at the weekend, so it's all very exciting! Then it'll be time to start planning the release of my new album. I moved to London last year and have been working on it with brilliant songwriters and producers like Steve Booker, Grant Black, Steve Robson and Peter Vitesse. It's all a dream come true!

So, you're getting ready to release your new  single Shadow on the Wall can you tell us a bit about it?

'Shadow on the Wall' is a very special song for me. I wrote it with a songwriter called Steve Booker who did 'Mercy' for Duffy and has done some songs with Alexandra Burke. It's all about somebody making you feel like a shadow on the wall. It's a personal story and I'm sure lots of us have been there. Sometimes people can be very imprudent and we very often don’t realise how our words affect the other person. The song is about rearranging your life and just wishing to move on…

The new single from that, comes out in November- why are you releasing that track now?

I think Shadow On The Wall is just a perfect example of what the album sounds like. It's an edgy, cool song with an amazing beat. I just have a feeling that it suits this time of year - it's a little bit dark and mysterious like those dark autumn evenings.

There is a lot of competition in the business today, do you think you have what it takes to give the big names a run for their money?

I agree - there's extremely heavy competition out there. In fact, there’s been 52 new female artists in UK this year plus all the successful and existing ones. I think as long as you do something what comes from your heart and as long as you believe in what you do – it’s worth to do it! I’ve been writing music since I was 13 years old and I can’t imagine my life without that…

So, this is simply what I do and how I express my feelings and emotions. Many people have asked me – what’s the song about, but you know, every song has a different meaning for different people really. People have different circumstances in their lives and they hear the song depending what is going on with their lives.

So, if you could recommend just one song of yours for us to download so that we want to hear all of your music, what would it be?

I know it sounds corny but there are seriously so many absolutely great tracks on the new album that it's near impossible to pick one. I've loved making them all, think they're great and am really proud of all the songs. I guess the single, Shadow on the Wall, is my favourite at the moment because we've just had some awesome remixes done by Bimbo Jones, Sharp Boys, Riff & Rays and Mischa Daniels which have totally transformed the track and made it really cool in yet another way.

If I was contemplating coming to your show or sitting at home and watching Big Brother, how would you get me out of the house?

Well first of all I would try to tempt you with chocolate! :-) Coming to see me, rather than sitting in, would be good fun because you'll get to experience Hannah live. I'm going to have a great band with me, lots of gorgeous outfits and some hot dancers. Plus you'll get to hear all my songs first and your friends will think you're cool!

We've got to admit you're a little bit cool, so what advice would you give to someone just starting out, knowing what you know now?

The main advice I'd give is to make sure you be yourself, as it's very easy to give in to what other people want and then you lose your own identity. Don't let anyone change you and surround yourself with people you really trust.

So, if HANNAH was an acronym what would each letter stand for?

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I think it would be Duffy's 'Rockferry'. It's an amazingly dynamic album with lots of different moods on it and it brings me some great memories. I particularly love Stepping Stone and Warwick Avenue and can't believe I'm working with the same producer who wrote Stepping Stone & Mercy!

Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions (that I robbed off my stepsisters's MySpace page);

What were you doing last night at 11?

I got in last night just before 11 from a brilliant night out with my friends. We all stayed in to watch X Factor together as we wanted to see Whitney perform and then went to a gorgeous little Italian restaurant near my house. Then when I got in I gave my mum back home a quick call to say goodnight!

What are you going to do after this interview?

It's cold outside, but I'm wrapped up warm ready to go for a jog in the park and feed the squirrels while I'm there!

When was the last time you did something incredibly stupid?

Well this isn't actually me, but my manager last week went to the totally wrong place for my video shoot. He was on the phone to me in the taxi and when it stopped he just got out without really checking where he was. After walking round for ages, he wasn't quite sure why there were some horses at the house he was at and then we realised he was at the wrong place! He had to walk a mile & a half to come and find me. I shouldn't keep people chatting on the phone obviously!

What's the last film you saw?

Well, I've seen it lots of times before but the last film I watched was A Good Year. It's a Russell Crowe film from a couple of years ago.

What's the last thing you bought?

I just bought a really nice piece from Maison Martin Margiela. They’ve only made 8 of them so far… plus I got some of their leggings. I love them.

Thank you Hannah, best of luck with everything!

Thank you! Lovely and interesting questions!
