Rapper T.I. has been summoned back to Atlanta, Georgia by his probation officer following his Wednesday (01Sep10) arrest on suspicion of drug possession, according to U.S. reports.

The 29-year-old rapper and his wife, former Xscape singer Tameka Cottle, were taken into custody in West Hollywood after a sheriff's deputy allegedly smelled cannabis smoke coming from their vehicle during a traffic stop.

They were released in the early hours of Thursday (02Sep10) after posting $10,000 (£6,670) bail each.

Officials are "in the process" of investigating the case as T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., is still on probation after spending six months behind bars on gun charges. He was released from prison in December (09) and is reportedly subject to drugs counselling and random testing as part of his probation.

United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates tells TMZ.com, "The probation office is in the process of determining what happened and will make a recommendation regarding Mr. Harris when they have all the facts."

And just hours after his release, T.I.'s probation officer demanded that the rapper return to Atlanta, where he usually resides, according to the website.

Meanwhile in related news 50 Cent has handed some legal advice to his fellow rapper T.I. following his drugs possession arrest - calling on his wife to take the blame.

The arrest could land Harris back in jail - he was only freed from prison in December (09) after spending six months behind bars on gun charges, and is currently on probation.

And his pal 50 Cent has urged Cottle, known as Tiny, to take the rap for possession of drugs so that T.I. escapes sentencing.

On his Twitter.com page, the In Da Club hitmaker writes, "Man TI and tiny done got picked up agin (sic) for methamphetamines and ecstacy (sic) dam man (sic). Tiny gotta take that charge. Say it was yours Baby."

According to reports, Harris was ordered back to his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia to face probation officers over the arrest just hours after his release.
