For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?

Beach Fatigue

Beach Fatigue

BEN: I'd say we are a mix of surf rock and Garage Rock. Think Link Wray meets X-Ray Spex.

What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?

AMY: We've been lucky to be surrounded by supportive people who help make our experiences great. Some people can misconceive things as challenges - when they are just changes in the music industry.

How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?

BILLY: We recently changed our name so perhaps we aren't the right people to ask about this! Here in South Wales there are a lot of opportunities and places to be heard, and it seems similar online too. It depends on what you have set your sights on - obviously certain parts of the music industry are fairly unobtainable for most of us.

How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?

AMY: There would be no point writing and recording music if we weren't fully in control and luckily we haven't had anyone trying to intervene in our work, yet!

Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?

BEN: Modern surf rock is mostly derivative so it's hard to hide these influences when it comes to that side of our music. Link Wray and co. are a big part of that. But we'd like to think that you can hear our love of films and their soundtracks in our music - particularly things like Tarantino's early work. A mix of great violence and thoughtful scripts.

If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?

AMY: James Murphy - we'd make sure we're all wearing matching white suits or something. It might sound alright too.

Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know:

BILLY: We all went to the same school as Swansea's most famous son - Dylan Thomas. Although he was a few years above us.

Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?

BILLY: Nothing definitive - but we are certain on making music we enjoy, and hopefully at least some other people will like it too.

Where do you hope to be this time next year?

BEN: Literally - we hope to be playing some festivals next year, as long as it doesn't rain!

What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?

AMY: Our first single as Beach Fatigue will be out on October 30th, followed by an appearance at the great Swn Festival in Cardiff in November. And then hopefully we will have our album out before the end of the year!
