Monday June 9 saw Rahat Fateh Ali Khan partner with MixRadio for an exclusive event in Dubai, marking the launch of the service into the Middle East.
We got the chance to put some questions to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who performed at the vent and showcased personally curated MixRadio playlists after his performance.
Has music always been a passion of yours?
Definitely, from a very young age. It is inbuilt in me.
When did you realise that music was a career you'd like to pursue?
I was born in a family of very talented people. Music runs in my blood and I could never think of anything else but this. Truly my passion.
How does it feel to be launching MixRadio in Dubai?
Wonderful feeling to launch with Mix Radio, which is an amazing platform and association. Thanks to Universal Music India and Salman Ahmen the producer of this album who have made this happen.
How would you say the musical landscape in Dubai has evolved in recent years?
A lot of shows take place here and people of Dubai are very good listeners too. Definitely a lot of talent comes here and a lot happens here which is very encouraging for artists.
Are you looking forward to sharing music from your new album for the first time at this event?
Definitely. This album is for my fans whom I love and sing for. I hope they enjoy it.
'Back 2 Love' is a collection of romantic love songs - what is it about music and love that you think makes the two work so well together?
Love is the root of everything. Whatever you do you must do with love so I also sing with love and perform with love for the love of my audience.
You've collaborated with musicians such as Shreya Ghosal, Salim and Sulaiman on this record - what was that experience like?
Excellent. Salim and Suleiman Bhai are very good friends and I would like to thank them for being a part of the song 'Habibi', and I would also like to thank the very talented Shreya Goshal Ji for my duet in the song 'Rim Jhim'. She truly has a very sweet and melodious voice.
What should we expect from you in the coming months?
My UK tour is coming up there after other shows around the globe and I look forward to performing for my audiences. Besides this there is a lot in the pipeline and I will keep you all updated. Also have a look at the MixRadio mixes that I have created on the service.
