Reconnected

Reconnected is a name that became familiar to everyone back in 2010, after the boy band nearly went all the way on Britain’s Got Talent. Now the first act signed to Duncan Bannatyne’s music label, the trio of guys are ready to hit the charts with their debut single ‘One In A Million’.

We talked to Matt, Max and Harry about them finally reaching the charts, how much their fans mean to them and touring with Little Mix.

So how excited are you to finally get your debut single out there?

Max - We’re really really excited. We’ve been gigging for ages as a band, but when we got singed last year, it all just became a bit more real. Now we’re on tour with Little Mix as well! We’re getting such a great reaction and such good feedback from the audience with the new track, so we can’t wait to see how it does.

So how did you find out you were going to be the first artist on Bannatyne Records?

Matt - Well, we got a call and he said that Dragon’s Den this week is going to have a record label on it and you’re going to be their first signing. So, it was a bit surreal. You don’t expect it. When the TV show aired, it was just like ‘Oh God, this is actually happening’. It was such a great feeling.

You’ve been in the studio working, what was it like working with Tim Woodcock?

Harry - We absolutely love him. We though the song he wrote were wicked, but we actually decided to go in a different way with the music we were going to do. More modern, more influenced by dance music and we’ve just finished doing a few of them and they’re sounding really good.

You recently played a session at Sound Control to show off your latest songs with your loyal fans. What was that like?

Harry - It was really good, like you just said they’ve been really loyal and have stuck with us for ages and ages. Now we’re finally releasing something. It’s really nice when you get to go away, spend time working on stuff and put it out there for people who really want to hear it.

So are there any plans for an album at all?

Max - We’re just waiting to see how it all works out with the new single and we’ll go on from there. From what we’ve been working on though, the album would be quite uplifting. You’re seeing a lot of dubstep and dance come in to pop and we kind of have a mixture of all that stuff.

You’re currently on the road supporting Little Mix, what’s that been like?

Matt – That was a good day when we found out we were supporting them. We sat down with our manager and when he told us ‘We’ve got Little Mix’ we were just amazed. We got started last Friday night and they’ve been the most amazing performances of our lives and we’re so looking forward to going on like that for the rest of the tour.

Met the girls yet and gotten any tips?

Harry – We’re very similar to them in that we were originally on a reality show but it all changes once you’re off that. Especially for us, we’re not the original line-up we were on the show, so we’ve kind of had to build it up again from scratch. Some of our fans have stuck with us the whole time though. They’re all lovely girls too, we’re really happy that they were nice. It’s just a really friendly tour to be one.

You guys also did a weekly radio show. What was that about?

Max – It was mainly to let the fans known what we were doing. We were mainly doing things behind the scenes, so we had the radio show to let people know what was going on and if there was any upcoming stuff. That was fun to do.

Is keeping your fans updated something important to you then?

Max - Definitely. Everyone always says this and it sounds a bit cheesy, but it’s true that without the fans supporting you, we wouldn’t be on tour with Little Mix at the moment. It all comes back to them and how much they’ve supported us is a real factor in how far we’ve come and what we’ll hopefully go and do in the future.

So, what’s in the pipeline for 2013?

Matt – We’re taking it step by step. We’re hoping that the single does well and is a great platform for a great 2013 for us.
