Four-piece band SHVLLOWS are gearing up for the release of their atmospheric pop single 'Zurich' later this year, exploring anxiety and self doubt along with the extreme lengths some people will go to overcome them.

SHVLLOWS

Hoping to assure the world that no one is ever truly alone, the group bring a vibrant and uplifting track despite the lyrics and overall concept.

We got the opportunity to chat to the guys about their music, plans for the future and more...

For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?

Exciting, uplifting and passionate. A combination of classic synth pop, stunning alternative falsetto and state of the art production that will brighten your entire day.

What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?

Convincing people to give you three minutes of their time when you are such a new artist. In both senses of trying to sell your music and your brand to the public and the people behind the scenes. Luckily we have a great team of industry friends that help us but the competition is and always will be fierce for those top spots.

How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?

It's a completely oversaturated market, when was the last time you scrolled down your news feed without seeing ten huge budget music advertisements? It's a full time job in itself making promo videos, editing photographs, organising and updating your social media and that's before you play a single chord in front of a crowd.

How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?

Incredibly important, we all bring that little something to the table and what we have as a cohesive unit means so much to us, it just clicks so well. You also have the benefits of being a working class band and that's no messing about in the studio, time is money and these songs need to be on par with artists with huge budgets.

If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?

Touring and collaborating with EverythingEverything is pretty much all of our dreams come true, that would be unreal. Even just a one off support slot would blow us away.

Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.

One of us had a trip to the hospital due to an injury occurred in the bedroom. You know who you are...

Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?

We would be lying if we didn't want to travel across the world and play music as a full time job, but realistically our main milestones are releasing the debut album, headline tours across the UK before eventually going out towards the rest of Europe and the States and eventually getting back together for a comeback tour when we are long past it.

Where do you hope to be by this time next year?

What we have accomplished in the few months we have been together has completely blown away an expectations. Who knows where we will be in a year? We can only say we are trying our very best and let's see where this path takes us!

What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?

We have our new single 'Zurich' coming out in September, a fantastic music video starring upcoming Scottish actress Chloe Edwards will accompany the release. We also have a bunch of huge shows including working with BBC Radio Scotland during the Edinburgh Fringe and our single launch at The Mash House on October 15.

'Zurich' is officially released via Choose Rude Records on September 16.
