The Courteeners have announced details of what promises to be a glorious show in the North West this summer. The band have confirmed a headline concert at Wigan’s Haigh Hall Live, on Thursday 30th June. The outdoor concert, with a capacity of over 7,000, will be the opening night in a planned 4 day event at the site. Against the spectacular backdrop of Wigan’s Haigh Hall Country Park, the band will be supported by Merseyside band The Coral, and promising Salford-based starlet Ren Harvieu, with further acts to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Manchester band recently announced their appearance at the sell-out V Festival and Isle of Wight Festival this summer. With 2 Top 10 albums under their belt, the band played a sell-out concert in December at the 16,000 capacity Manchester Evening News Arena. Tickets for a concert this July in Delamere Forest sold out in a record 38 minutes. In the last 2 years the band have also appeared on the main stage at Reading/Leeds Festival, V Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, and  Coachella Festival in California.

A spokesman for Haigh Hall Live organisers Cuffe & Taylor Event Management said:

“We are hugely proud to announce The Courteeners are playing Haigh Hall, it’s the perfect act for Wigan. Being a local band is exactly what the event needs. The fact that The Courteeners have become so popular provides the perfect inspiration to the bands performing in Sunday’s Haigh Fest.

“After last years Tuned-In events organised by Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust we felt that we needed to appeal to wider audience. Not only have we secured The Courteeners, but also another massive act, The Coral.

“I don’t think that Wigan has seen such an epic event since The Verve last played their iconic gig at Haigh Hall in 1996.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 1st April
