Those who use Apple Music could be in for a happy bit of news, as reports claim the service's monthly fee is set to drop by as much as 20%.

Digital Music News cites "a pair of sources working closely with the streaming service", and says Apple is considering dropping the membership fee from its current price of £9.99 a month to £7.99.

Family membership would also be reduced from £14.99 to £12.99 a month, but students will still have to pay the full £4.99 fee per month they're used to.

Despite the change, there won't be any back payments for those who have already been paying full price, but members will be automatically transitioned onto the new pay rate.

Apple Music has in the past seen some brilliant exclusives for members of its service. With more planned for the future, this reduction in price could see a major hike in their membership numbers - something all services will be looking for as more and more competition enters the streaming game.
