The 41-year-old singer Dido who is married to Rohan Gavin, and the couple’s first child helped keep her love for music fresh and exciting.
She said: “Stanley’s two and recently it’s been a lot of fun, ‘cause he loves music, he loves drumming, he loves joining in band rehearsals, he’s just so excited.”
After deciding not to tour her third album ‘Safe Trip Home’ because of its personal subject matter – some lyrics were inspired by the death of her father – many thought she had turned her back on music, but her son has helped keep the fire alive as she continued to use her art as a way of coping.
She added: “It’s so nice seeing it through someone else’s eyes, a proper, fresh perspective. I have done music since I was a teeny little kid.
“It’s sort of been the answer to everything, bad times, good times, whatever times, music is a comfort and it’s limitless to me. I know I will never get bored in my life ‘cause I’ve got that.”
Not just a career, Dido makes it clear music is all-encompassing in her life and she admitted she sees everything in “songs”.
She explained: “I see the world in songs. My idea of relaxing is to sing and play, even if half the time it’s nursery rhymes. I do love singing.”
