The 24-year-old singer unveiled her new single 'Without Me' - which she wrote about her highly pubicised split from G-Eazy, although they later reconciled - on Thursday (04.10.18).

The couple's relationship was plagued by cheating allegations directed at the rapper and a brief breakup over summer, and it appears Halsey - writing under her real name Ashley Frangipane for the first time - has opened up about the difficult time.

At one point, in a nod to JT's bitter 2002 hit she sings: "You don't have to say just what you did. I already know, I had to go and find out from them."

Explaining the raw honesty of the song, the 'Bad At Love' hitmaker admitted it has been difficult living our her life with the world watching.

Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music's 'Beats 1' show, she said: "It's just me. No wig, no colorful hair, no character, and it's about my life and about my relationship that the world has watched so closely and so vehemently in the past year and a half."

After unveiling the track this week, Halsey was asked on Twitter how it made her feel.

She candidly replied: "I cried the whole time I recorded it. But now I feel proud. And empowered."

The new tune comes after the couple recently rekindled their relationship following their bitter split two months ago and G-Eazy, 29, shared a gushing post on social media to mark her birthday on September 29.

Alongside a professional photograph of the singer, he wrote: "Happy birthday to this one. I love you so so so much and I always will. I myself, along with millions and millions of other people appreciate you more than you'll ever know. You're the brightest star in the sky. So grateful to get to travel thru life with you, so happy to call you my queen. Happy birthday baby (sic)"
