The 30-year-old singer decided to make a creative space at his house where he can go to work on the songs for his next album and it has led to him writing lots and lots of tracks.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I've been writing a lot, I've been writing a hell of a lot and actually producing as well, I've actually got a studio in my house where I spend all my time. I'm just loving it, my head is completely in my craft at the moment, I want to have another hit so I can go out on the road and not play the same four songs."

The 'Say You Won't Let Go' hitmaker has ditched plans to make a dance album to focus on the acoustic ballads that his fans love.

James has written most of this record - the follow-up to 2016's 'Back From The Edge' - on his own and he feels that's how he makes his best music.

He said: "I started out writing on my own, what got me though was sitting in my bedroom with my acoustic guitar and wailing my feelings people connected with that. When you sign a record deal when you win a show like 'The X Factor' they send you out on tours of producers studios and different songwriters and stuff. I got some great songs out of it but I don't know how I feel about compromising my creativity, I don't like to dilute anything I do.

"If that means having six songs that are seven minutes long then I'm happy to do that, I like to write on my own. I finally learned that lesson now and you've got to work with people you 100 per cent gel with or write on your own that's what I've learned personally yeah."
