The former Mötley Crüe bassist has decided to take a break from the app to "get back to what is real" - writing lyrics and making music.

The 'Girls Girl Girls' hitmaker has told his fans that he will still be on photo-sharing app Instagram, but the next time they will see him will be on tour with his band Sixx: A.M.

Announcing his departure from the site, he wrote on Facebook: "GOODBYE FACEBOOK....I WANNA GET BACK TO WHATS REAL.WRITING MUSIC,LYRICS,BOOKS,PHOTOGRAPHY ETC ETC.....IF YA WANNA FOLLOW ME I POST PHOTOS ON INSTAGRAM...OTHERWISE SEE YOU LIVE NEXT TIME I GO ON TOUR....MUCH LOVE... (sic)"

Earlier this year, the 58-year-old rocker's band mate James Michaels revealed the group - also comprised of former Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba - have written songs for their sixth album.

The heavy metal group put out the first of two albums this year, the first being 'Prayers for the Damned Vol. 1' and the second 'Prayers for the Blessed, Vol 2'.

And now lead vocalist James, 49, revealed were already working on songs for album number six, which they expect to be out next year.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "We are already writing a lot of music for the next record, which I think will come out sometimes in 2017 or something like that."

Meanwhile, James says ever since the band became their main focus, especially after Nikki finished Motley Crue's final tour on New Years Eve (31.12.15), they have been on a "creative roll".

He said: "Since the three of us committed to Sixx: A.M. - which happened midway through last year - we've just been on a creative roll and it is really hard to stop us from creating new music right now. We are at a very inspiring time and I think that is because we are going to be spending all of our time doing Sixx: A.M. It is a very creative time for this band."
