The iconic grunge icon's bassist joined his former band mates on stage during Foo Figthers' Seattle concert over the weekend and performed The Vaselines' 'Molly's Lips' - which the 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' rockers covered a number of times - but fans have claimed it wasn't a full reunion.

After reading comments suggesting that it needed late front man Kurt Cobain - who took his own life in 1994 - Krist took to social media to sarcastically address the backlash.

He tweeted: "We tried to get a hold of him for this gig -- as many times as we tried to contact Kurt, we couldn't get through. The phone just kept ringing & ringing.

"Kurt does not have email. In fact I have never emailed him in my life and I have been online since 1993."

Krist has reunited with his friends before, including joining Foo Fighters on stage in Eugene, Oregon last year to perform their track 'Big Me'.

The surviving members of Nirvana have come together a number of other times over the year, including for their 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, where they were joined with a number of guest stars in Kurt's place.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have had to postpone shows this week after Groht lost his voice, and he joked it was because he made out with Bono.

the 49-year-old rocker has had vocal trouble like the U2 frontman - who had to end the Irish band's show in Berlin, Germany, over the weekend after his voice failed whilst attempting to hit the notes on 'Beautiful Day'.

Quipping on Twitter in a statement to fans announcing the reschedule shows, Dave wrote on the band's Twitter: "FF RESCHEDULE 2 CANADA DATES DUE TO ILLNESS

"That's the last time I ever make out with Bono"
