Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is writing a David Brent album with Andy Burrows.

The British comic was joined by the former Razorlight drummer for a London gig last night (14.10.13), in which he took to the stage as his 'The Office' character to perform with his band Foregone Conclusion, and now the pair are planning to expand the funnyman's musical project.

A source said: "Ricky has written nearly all the material himself but he wanted a helping hand with some specific tracks.

"He and Andy first met in 2008 on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' and they have stayed in touch ever since.

"Although Ricky's performances are all slightly cringe-worthy, they are extremely tongue-in-cheek and actually, lyrically, very clever.

"Andy was keen to get involved in the new album as soon as the idea was put to him.

"There has been interest from a major record label and an album will hit shelves early next year, with Andy credited as the major songwriter."

And Foregone Conclusion - whose two London shows this month sold out within seconds of going on sale - will head out on the road for a massive tour once the album is released.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "They are also currently in talks for a live arena tour, taking in venues of varying sizes.

"Ricky has already been approached about a special one-off gig at Wembley."

Ricky revived the David Brent character for Comic Relief earlier this year, and then issued an online series, 'Learn Guitar With David Brent', which was the character's first recurring role since 'The Office' ended in 2003.
