The 23-year-old singer often wakes with song ideas and he wishes he could turn "every single thought" he has into a song but if he did he would be swamped with new tracks he wouldn't be able to edit down.

In an Instagram post, he revealed: "Sometimes I wake up with so many lyrics in my head. I wish I could put every single thought of mine into songs for you all. But we would be on album 5 if I did that haha (sic)"

Sam has been working on songs for his second LP - the follow-up to his Grammy Award-winning debut 'In The Lonely Hour' - over the last year and is currently enjoying the success of James Bond theme 'Writing's on the Wall' in the charts.

Speaking about the time frame for his follow-up album, he assured his fans they could expect to hear new music "in the next year or so" but he is going to have well-deserved break first and "spend some time dating".

He said: "I'm not going away for a very long time. I'm already writing my album. I've got the title and I've got two songs I'm absolutely in love with. I'm a songwriter and an artist and I think and breathe my second record every day of my life.

"I will bring my album out in the next year or so, but it's not going to be immediate because I think people are going to get sick of me if I brought an album out next week."
