Susan Boyle is to go out on her debut American tour.

The 'I Dreamed a Dream' singer - known as SuBo - shot to fame on ITV talent show 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2009 and has since become a global star, winning an American fan base who will see her perform as part of her 2014 world tour.

She told The Sun newspaper: "This is a brilliant moment for me. I am so very proud to be announcing that I will be performing in my very own tour in the US. This is very exciting.

"The past five years have been incredible and it just keeps getting better. I have spoken so often about wanting to tour America and it is actually happening.

"The Americans have embraced me since the beginning and I can't wait to hit the road. I'm hoping it will be in a tour bus so I can see more of the country as we travel across the US."

Susan, 53, will play 21 dates in American cities to kick off the world tour, starting in San Diego California at the Balboa Theatre on October 8.

The Scottish singer, who is now worth more than £20 million after selling more than 22 million albums, will then visit the likes of Texas, Arizona and Georgia and the tour will wrap on November 6 at the Times-Union Centre's Moran Theater in Jacksonville, Florida.

The twice Grammy Award-nominated star earned rave reviews for her sell-out UK tours in 2013 and 2014.

Tickets for her world tour go on sale on Monday June 9.
