Beyonce wowed the crowd at Virgin Media V Festival in Chelmsford, south east England last night (17.08.13).

The 'Love On Top' hitmaker headlined the first night of the event and - despite a late start - treated fans to a career-spanning 90 minute set featuring seven costume changes.

Kicking things off with 'Run the World (Girls)', Beyonce proved her undeniable live talent with hits like 'If I Were A Boy' and 'Crazy In Love'.

Addressing the crowd after a stunning rendition of 'Halo', she thanked them for being "the most important part of the evening and a constant inspiration to me".

Before Beyonce took to the Virgin Media Stage, The Script entertained the crowd with an exciting set.

It was highlighted by a cameo appearance from rapper Labrinth who joined the group to perform his hit 'Earthquake'.

Elsewhere on the opening day, Jessie J announced she would release her new second album - which will be called 'Alive' - on September 23 during her set which included a rendition of 'Who You Are' mixed with Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'.

Several stars chilled out in the Virgin Media Louder Lounge during the day, including One Direction singer Niall Horan, Little Mix stars Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Gabrielle Aplin and Tulisa, who showed off some sharp soccer skills.
