Motorhead are to receive the Metal Hammer Golden God Award.

The 'Ace of Spades' hitmakers will pick up the accolade - awarded to those who have significantly contributed, shaped and inspired the genres of rock and heavy metal - on June 17th at the Orange Amplification Metal Hammer Golden God Awards at London's The O2 venue.

Alexander Milas, Editor of Metal Hammer, said: "The first, the biggest, and the best - the Metal Hammer Golden Gods are the ultimate celebration of all things heavy. It's a chance for us to hoist beers with the great and good of the metal community as well as the most important V.I.Ps around - our readers.

"Part-gig, part-awards, and all metal, there's simply no other event like it, and with the almighty Motörhead closing proceedings, this one's set to be the loudest ever. Horns up."

The group - who will follow in the footsteps of previous Golden God winners Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Iron Maiden - will close the spectacle with a live set, one of their most intimate performances in years.

As well as the 'Iron Fist' group - who are fronted by lead vocalist and bassist Lemmy - other performers on the night will include Coal Chamber, Paradise Lost, Five Finger Death Punch and Airbourne.

Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Corey Taylor, Scott Gorham and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted are all confirmed to attend the Awards.
