Rammstein closed Download festival last night (16.06.13).

The German metallers brought the three-day heavy metal extravaganza to a spectacular close with a pyrotechnic filled set, which included the band members setting themselves on fire.

The weekend's rain had passed by the time the group took to the stage, playing a set drawing from their six albums and including firm fan favourites such as 'Du Hast', 'Asche Zu Asche' and 'Wiener Blut'. Fireworks shot over the crowds' heads and a number of huge pyrotechnics were employed before the band's set climaxed with 'Sonne' and 'Pussy'.

Earlier in the day bands including 30 Seconds to Mars, Gaslight Anthem, A Day to Remember and Ghost had performed at the festival, held in Donington Park, Derbyshire, Middle England.

The three day Download festival saw 90,000 rockers enjoy headline sets by Iron Maiden and Slipknot as well as Rammstein, as well as performances by rockers including Queens Of The Stone Age, Motorhead, and Bullet For My Valentine.

Download organiser Andy Copping said he is already

"at the tail end of negotiations with the headliners," for the event in 2014, but wouldn't be drawn as to who will top the bill.

He told NME magazine: "There are no rules in regard to headliners, I look at who's out there, who's selling tickets, who can put on a good show, you can't rule anyone out."
