Chase and Status

Chase and Status' forthcoming album has "cutting-edge stuff" on it.

The tracks on the British duo's third album 'Brand New Machine' are drawn from different genres and they have been inspired by house and techo music, which is making a comeback.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, Will Kennard said: "The whole album isn't straight from the 90s but there's a lot of that vibrating through it. But there's some new cutting-edge stuff on there too.

"There's a general 20-year cycle, it kind of happens with fashion and music, which always seems to happen. 19/20 years on, it comes back again. House music is bringing a lot of influence from that, techno; a lot of that stuff is coming back."

Such has been the anticipation surrounding the upcoming new album, it has inspired the duo - who are also made up of Saul Milton - to finish the record quicker.

Will added: "People are talking about it. It's kind of boosted us to finish it now ... Nothing is finished until it's literally physically dragged away from us by our manager. Pure pressure but, you know, that's how everyone does it in the music industry."

'Brand New Machine' is out on October 7.
