Rating: 4/5

Lily Of The Valley has been an album two years in the making as Funeral Suits have finally unleashed their unique blend of rock and electronica with this debut record.

The band have already had success with the release of tracks Colour Fade and Health but this collection of eleven tracks really does show what these boys are all about.

Mary’s Revenge is the opening track on the album and it really is the perfect start to the record as the mix of rock and electronica well and truly rings out.

The menacing guitars on this track are just as important as the vocals and there is a great solo guitars section in the middle of the track which is just so fantastic.

There is an unsettling vibe to this song and mix that with the great melodies and Brian James’ hazy vocals and this is one hell of a great track.

Colour Fade was the band’s debut single and it is one of the most upbeat tracks on the album as the rock/electronic signature sound is backed by a super catchy dance beat which elevates this track even further.

James is on top form vocal wise, his vocals backed up by the electronica/dance beats is really mesmerising and they blend together so well.

Health is another of the tracks that has been released as a single over the last few months and there is a completely different feel to this track as the opening chords are just so dark.

The vocals are more abrupt and direct and with the sharp electric guitars on the track there is a more menacing ambience throughout.

We Only Attack Ourselves is one of the most emotional and emotive tracks on this record as the song is totally stripped back compared to everything else on this record.

An acoustic guitar and some strings are all that support James’ superb vocals on this fantastic track. For the first time the vocals take front and centre stage and James shows that he has a very powerful and earthy set of pipes on him.

Funeral Suits have made real statement with Lily of the Valley as this is a collection of tracks that experiments within the rock/electronica sound.

The band move from lighter tracks such as Colour Fade to much darker sounds in the likes of Health and I Still Love The High while remaining true to their sound.

Funeral Suits have made an impact with the first single off this album and that looks set to continue as audiences are introduced to the rest of this great record.
