IV Rox may not yet be on everybody's radar, but if they're aiming to prove anything with their debut EP 'Imperfections', it should be that they have more than what it takes to be a success in this business.
Opening tune 'Down 4 Me' is an incredible urban tune featuring Ghetts, with beautiful melodies and mixes that ensure the girls' vocals float above and beyond, complimenting one another at all times and showing that the individuals involved do not need to struggle for attention.
'Under The Bridge' is another punchy vocal with an awesomely catchy chorus: 'water, water, water! / under the bridge' and infectious ad-libs that you'll know by heart after a few listens, influencing you to join in and release your inner Mariah Carey.
Third track 'Grenade' is passionate yet not quite as memorable as those it's embedded between, whilst title track 'Imperfection' is one of the EP's early stand-outs.
Their electronic and dynamic sound travels through 'Case Of The Ex' and their feature track alongside Stormzy, 'Badder Than A Mother'.
Closing things out with the slower tune 'Better Than Your Girl', the foursome hit listeners with one final knockout blow, proving that there's a slot waiting for them in the world market and that they have the ability to compete with any of the girl groups currently floating around.
Raquel, Natalie, Nadine and Dolly blend perfectly without attempts to overpower one another for the spotlight - it's one they should easily be able to share.
What is beautiful is the addition at the end of some of the songs that sees the girls sing a line or two from one of their favourite tracks they heard growing up. Their 'No Scrubs' rendition is particularly memorable.
Though they do clearly take heavy influence from other artists, they do it in a way that doesn't mean their own unique talents are forgotten.
With seven tracks, this is almost an album and gives exactly the right amount of teaser ahead of what's hopefully to come in the future. The girls should be extremely proud of what they've put together here, and I for one cannot wait to hear new material going forward!
