The newspaper claims that the X Factor judge packed up and left the home the couple have been sharing in London after furious arguments became too much to bear.

Friends of the former Spice Girl are now said to be urging Mel to break away from Stephen for good, the claims go on to say.

This comes after Stephen slammed speculation on her social media that he was responsible for her appearing scratched and bruised during her time on The X Factor final this past Sunday, December 14.

Within just moments of the show starting, fans took to Twitter to speculate over whether she could have been the victim of a physically violent attack.

They also noted that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring.

On Monday morning, Stephen hit back at the claims tweeting: "I don't usually respond to Twitter msgs but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting un true!"

He went on to say: "Mel was very ill a bunch of doctors helped her get better if fans can't just relax B4 being negative they r not real fans of @OfficialMelB."

A representative for Mel B has declined to comment on the situation.

This comes as Mel was unveiled as the new cover star for the Christmas issue of Grazia, where she admits to being three hours late for the shoot because of an argument with Stephen.

The magazine quotes her as saying: "I walked in pi**ed off because I had a big row with my husband about stupid stuff. Sometimes he pi**es me off like no other, but he gets me."

Mel was admitted to hospital in agony on Thursday night and so missed out on the first night of The X Factor final on Saturday, December 13.

When she returned to the show, host Dermot O'Leary asked if she was feeling better to which she responded: "Yes-ish".

It was initially reported that Mel may have been suffering from a serious stomach ulcer.

Tulisa Constostavlos stepped in to judge for the Saturday night's show.
