Baby Rice & Banana

Occasion: Breakfast

Ingredients:

Organix Wholegrain Baby Rice

1/3 organic banana

Instructions:

Step 1 - Make up Organix wholegrain baby rice as per the packet instructions. 

Step 2 - Mash banana in a small bowl then add to the baby rice and blend.

Step 3 - Blend to a smooth texture for first weaning recipe or serve as a rough mash for older babies.

Serving suggestion - For older babies from 6 months serve with a dollop of organic full fat yogurt and a few slices of banana.

Baby Ratatouille

Occasion: Lunch/dinner

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon organic olive oil

1 organic garlic clove

2 large organic tomatoes

1 organic red onion

half organic red pepper

half organic yellow pepper

half small organic courgette

half organic aubergine

1 bay leaf

a sprig of fresh thyme

Instructions:

Step 1 - chop all the vegetables into small bite size pieces.

Step 2 - Heat the olive oil in a pan then add the onion and crushed garlic, cook together until softened.

Step 3 - Add the vegetables with the thyme and bay leaf and leave to cook until the vegetables begin to soften.

Step 4 - Add the tomatoes and continue to cook until the vegetables are tender.  Add a little water if necessary if the dish starts to dry out.

Step 5 - Remove the thyme and bay leaf before serving.  This recipe is suitable for all ages and you can serve as appropriate to the age of your child.

Lentil and Chicken Bake

Occasion: Lunch/dinner

Ingredients:

2 large organic chicken legs or thighs (cooked)

2 tablespoons of dry organic split red lentils

1 large organic carrot

1 large organic sweet potato

1 organic tomato

half a clove of garlic

350ml homemade chicken stock (no added salt)

10g olive oil

Instructions:

Step 1 - Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the crushed garlic and fry for a minute.

Step 2 - Finely chop the carrot and sweet potato into cubes then add to the pan.  Sauté for a couple of minutes.

Step 3 - Peel and de-seed the tomato, chop and add to the pan.

Step 4 - Next add the lentils to the pan, mix and add the stock.

Step 5 - Bring the pan to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 6 - While the pan is simmering, shred the cooked chicken into small pieces and add to the pan and heat through.

Step 7 - Puree or mash the whole lot to the desired consistency for your baby.  For stage 3 babies, you could even add some peas or sweetcorn.
