Family Day Out

Family Day Out

With kids going back to school this week, parents up and down the country are feeling the strain on their wallets after the six week holiday! Buy a gift website has shown that parents spent a staggering 9.5 billion to keep the kids entertained whilst on their six week summer break.

That is a shocking result and there is no wonder, then that parents are trading in expensive family holidays abroad for UK day trips such as visiting the coast or theme parks. This is because (89%) have told us that they find them less stressful to going abroad with the kids. 24% have in fact admitted to finding staying at home very boring.

Not only are day trips less expensive but half of the parents (53%) said that they chose this due to the cheaper option. Nearly a quarter of the mums and dads who participated believe that a day out for the kids means they should be given the experience of a wide range of activities which is what they get when on a day out in the UK.

Dan Moutain, Buyagift.com CEO, said: "The summer holidays are an exciting time for children, but it's no surprise that they can instill an element of dread in parents as kids demand to be kept entertained throughout the course of the six weeks.  As well as being  more cost-effective, activities and day trips provide more value and variety than the annual summer holiday and can be worked around parents' work schedules for minimal disruption.  At Buyagift.com we have a range of days out available from as little as £6.30, meaning there's something for everyone - no matter their budget - to enjoy throughout the long summer break."
