Ryan Gosling has been running errands and cooking meals for his pregnant girlfriend Eva Mendes after it was revealed the couple were expecting their first child last week.

The 'Drive' star - who is expecting his first child with 'Hitch' actress later this year - has stepped up to the "caring father-to-be" role, running errands for his pregnant girlfriend and even cooking her favourite meals.

A source told Us Weekly: "Ryan goes out and gets the groceries.

"[Eva's] been wanting pasta, and he's cooking her meals.

"Ryan has already stepped into the role of caring father-to-be."

The 33-year-old actor - who met Eva, 40, on the set of their movie 'Place Beyond The Pines' in 2011- has always been open about his desire to start a family.

He previously said: "I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies.

"When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."

Meanwhile, the couple are said to be thrilled with the news of the pregnancy.

A source said: "They literally could not be more excited. She's feeling great."

The stunning brunette is rumoured to be around seven months pregnant and hadn't been seen out in public since March until she was photographed wearing a baggy dress and hiding her baby bump with a bag while making her way to her car in Los Angeles last week.
