Love them or hate them, you’ll need to have been living under a rock if you haven’t heard about next week’s Royal wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. The world has gone mad for the unexpected relationship between the fifth in line to the throne and Suits’ kick-ass paralegal. What’s more, it appears people are now even looking to recreate this romance in their own lives.

At Plenty of Fish, we’ve seen many changes in trends for what people look for in a partner over the years, but ahead of the Royal wedding, it’s Prince Harry fever that’s taking over!
In the run up to May 19th, we’ve looked at the top five ways that the royal wedding has altered what it is that women actually want:
People are dating more: When asked, a third of Plenty of Fish users (both men and women) said that they’ve had a recent boost to their ‘dating libido’ in the lead up to the wedding. It seems that more single people than ever are actively looking for love in the UK.
Destination SW10: Foreign land to most, the Kings Road has now become a hot spot for first dates. Men from Chelsea received +82% more messages than usual on Plenty of Fish in April, suggesting British babes are actively looking for posher postcodes as a way to bag their own Prince Charming.
Saddle up: We’ve also seen an increase in the number of women seeking a man who can play a sport and ride a horse, as polo is now deemed sexier than popular sports such as cricket and basketball. Sorry Stuart Broad, but a bat and ball just aren’t going to cut it; girls now want a man who can multitask.
“The rain in Spain…”: Mind your Ps & Qs boys, the Queen’s English is now the third sexiest accent amongst UK women, creeping up on Scottish and American. With an Eton education and a Head of State as his grandmother, Harry certainly has no need for elocution lessons, but UK men should consider binging on a few more episodes of The Crown if they’re keen on bagging a date.
‘Hazza’, ‘Harold’, ‘Henry’: Whatever the birth certificate says, as long the name somewhat links to Harry, British girls are on board! And whilst they may not be able to get the real deal, luckily there are more than 13,000 single men named Harry in the UK still looking for love.
