Research from a YouGov poll shows that 53 per cent of British women believe the right time to get married is between 25 and 29.

In a stark contrast to times gone by, only 11 per cent of women now think that 20 – 24 is the ideal age range for marriage.

A slightly higher 18 per cent of women believe that being in your thirties spells the best time for marriage, voting 30 – 34 as the best time to do it.

Men have similar feelings to the women when it comes to what age is right for marriage with 44 per cent believing 25 – 29 is the right age.

Slightly higher than the women, 24 per cent believe getting married later in life is better, saying 30 – 34 is the right age.

Shockingly, only 1 in 10 men feel that getting married young is the right way to go, meaning they would tie the knot between 20 and 24 years of age.

The old tradition is that they bride’s father pay’s for the wedding but things have come a long way since then.

Now, it is believed that both the bride and groom should pay for their own wedding, with 55 per cent of people voting this way.

A rather large 30 per cent said that it was up to both sets of parents to pay for the weddings and only a tiny 5 per cent still believe it should be the bride’s parents who should fork out.
