Brits FInd Sex Boring

The study found that Brits think that 11 is the perfect number of times a married couple should be having sex although the reality is much less.

Brits have sex, on average, five times a month which is less than half what they think the perfect number to be.

Incredibly, a quarter of Brits would describe sex are boring and a further one in seven said they would rather read a book than get intimate with their partner.

Lawrence Christensen, Head of Communications & Strategy at Benenden Healthcare, who commissioned the study, said,

“The strain of modern life is forcing married Brits to put their romantic lives on hold. Sadly, it appears that the statistics confirm the stereotype of sex lives taking a downward plunge within marriage – with it becoming a chore for a third of married Brits.

“Married couples are finding that their priorities are elsewhere and this is down to a variety of reasons, but the important point is that this is causing worry and impacting on mental wellbeing.

“Sex isn’t just the physical act but includes the expression of intimacy towards a partner and the statistics show that even then, Brits would rather read a book.”

Some of the main reasons for Brits wanting to avoid sex is due to being tired, stressed and unfortunately a general lack of satisfaction.

Forty three per cent of people think that their diet has an effect on their sex life but over a fifth of people believe that their partner should earn sex, saying that they need to show them affection earlier in the day.

Unfortunately one in ten married couples say their sex life was non-existent with the same amount saying they don’t click with their partner anymore and one in twenty saying they no longer love their partner anymore.

Sadly, 40 per cent said they don’t find their partner as attractive as they did when they married and the average person said the passion in their marriage faded after 1 year, 8 months and 23 days.

Four in ten married people said their sex life was okay but only a mere quarter said that they had a good sex life.
