It would seem that Mother's Day is not the only day where we spend time with our mums as more and more Brits are making the effort to spend time with their mothers in all areas of their life according to One4All. Many see their mums at least once a week and some children see their mothers every day.

In my younger years, it was common to keep your life with your mum and all other areas apart, however now we are less concerned over what they know and where they come with us.

There are many celebrities paving the way for this trend including; Kris Jenner and the Kardashian sisters, Daisy and Pearl Lowe, Jada and Jaden Pinkett-Smith, and Victoria and Brooklyn Beckham.

We take a look at what we do with our mums now that we might not have in years gone by;

Social lives- It is no longer frowned upon to have a party with your mum there, bring your mum along on a shopping trip, out for a meal, to the cinema, gig or to see a comedian. The reality is you probably get your hidden party girl side from her anyway. You value her opinion now when you buy something, you enjoy talking to her about anything and everything and you share common interests and sense of humour.

Clubbing- You get past a point where you care about what other people think and if you want to dance silly all night long with your mother- who gives a damn? Not you! And if she gets hit on- it gives her a huge confidence boost- so why not take her along for a little ego stroking once in a while?!

Out with friends- Let's face it- you likely have the same twinkle in your eye and attitude to life as your mother if you are close- so if your friends love you- they will love her too. Mums are at the a point in their life where they just want to have laugh so she will fit right in and be a good example to your and your mates if your perspective on things are a bit skewed. She is a good judge of character and if you are hanging around with anyone untrustworthy or fickle- she will tell you not to waste your time.

Facebook- My mum isn't on Facebook and I wish she was! I see pictures and read little anecdotes that she would love, but instead I have to open an email and send her them that way- it would be much easier if she was my friend. I guess in a world where we share almost everything online with everyone else, why should we be embarrassed about what our mothers see? If there was such a thing when she was younger I'm sure she would put us to shame! One in ten mothers and daughters believe that social media has actually brought them closer together- go figure. In fact it's mums who are censoring their posts to avoid embarrassing their children- by not using too many abbreviations, flirting, posting too many selfies, using slang words they don't know the meaning of or trying too hard to be cool. All of these have been voted as the most cringe worthy mum behaviours on Facebook.

Holidays- Holidays can be a great place to get back some of that time you miss out on in ordinary life. With everything else you might not have had a good chin wag for ages and this is the perfect excuse to leave the men at home and crank up the girliness for a little while.
