Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson’s career started in 1978 but he didn’t make any waves in Hollywood until his performance in Darkman in 1990. His role as Peyton Westlake/Darkman earned him a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Actor.

Roles began to come thick and fast for Neeson after Darkman but it was 1993 film Schindler’s List that made a name for the Irish born star.

He received five nominations for his role as Oskar Schindler, including a BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Actor. He went on to win the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor.

The nominations for Best Actor come flooding in again in 1996 when he played Michael Collins in the film of the same name.

In 1999 he joined an all-star cast in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to play Qui-Gon Jinn, a role then earned him a further nomination for Best Actor and a nomination for Best Fight Scene.

In 2003 he played the lovable Daniel in Love Actually. We fell in love with him as he played the vulnerable dad trying to cope with the loss of his wife and raise a child at the same time.

Neeson played Alfred Kinsey in the film Kinsey. It showed Neeson playing the famous biologist who wrote the famous book Sexual Behaviour in the Human Male which was one of the first recorded works that saw science address sexual behaviour.

His performance earned him another seven nominations for Best Actor, two of which he won.

In 2005 he starred in Batman Begins as Henri Ducard/Ra’s al Ghul. This planted his feat in the action genre and earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

It was Taken that propelled him into the action hero superstar status in 2008. He was incredible in his role as Bryan Mills and the film has become a favourite amongst action/thriller fans.

In 2010 he joined the Clash of the Titans franchise along with Sam Worthington as Zeus, and although we weren’t keen on the facial hair, his majestic voice won us over again.

One of our favourite Neeson roles is his character Hannibal in the 2010 hit the A-Team. Although it was a remake, we loved Neeson’s charisma and he looked brilliant in army get up!

This year, he has starred in The Grey, Wrath of the Titans, Battleship and The Dark Knight Rises, giving him plenty of screen time (which we loved) and a ton of recognition.

Now he has reprised his role as Bryan Mills for Taken 2 in which the gag that Mills attacked in the first film come to seek their revenge. Taken 2 is out now.
