MySingleFriend.com has found that friends trump significant others when it comes to holidaying! Apparently quality time with mates is far more important than spending some romantic time with your partner this year.

Family holidays were almost ruled out in comparison to a holiday with friends and only a third would want to spend time alone with their boyfriend/ girlfriend.

So what is it that is so appealing about a holiday with friends rather than a romance? The site suggests it’s the fun factor- that the amount of fun had on a holiday excursion with mates far exceeds that of with a partner of family. With drinking, clubbing and dancing to be had it’s got to beat a quiet night in with Granddad playing Scrabble right?

A mate-cation is apparently best if it consists of four people. No third wheels involved! So If you go to a theme park there is always enough for social riding and if two of you want to go home on a night out the other two can stay out and party for longer- it’s a win-win!

A mate-cation does not mean that it’s PG all the time however with more than half who have a fling even if they are with friends, given that a lot of people find it easier to meet people on holiday.

With this in mind My SingleFriend.com have created sunglasses in bold colours to signal to another single people that you are up for a date, even if you are with your friends.

Sarah Beeny, TV personality and founder of MySingleFriend.com commented: “I’m not surprised that friends top the chart as favourite holiday companions. I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard as I have on some of my holidays with the girls. There is nothing better than getting away from it all with your pals, enjoying some sunshine, and meeting some new people. Everyone is enjoying topping up their tan and feeling like the world is their oyster. These vibrant shades will definitely get you noticed this summer. Not only do they look great and will give you that extra boost of confidence, they are a great way of signalling to someone across the pool that you are single and ready to mingle. Grab a pair and get flirting this summer.”
