Brits are Ditching Their Partners for Their Smartphones

The digital age has hit hard and now it’s hitting our relationships as it has been discovered we spend more time on our phones than with our partners.

In fact, we’re spending 30 per cent more time on our phones each day than we do with our partner, found the Mobile Life 2013 Report.

Our smartphones are sadly taking prominence over our partners as we spend just 97 minutes with our partners each day, compared to 119 minutes on our phones.

So what’s so good that it’s worth pushing our partners aside? Well we’re mainly using our phones browse the internet and check up on our virtual friends via social networking platforms.

This is followed by chilling out and listening to some tunes, and playing on some of our favourite phone based games.

David Johnson, General Manager Devices for O2 in the UK, said, “Smartphones are getting smarter all the time with huge leaps being made in screens, sensor technology, camera, audio and processors which can make using and interacting with the phone on the go a pleasure.

“However, that’s also meant that we’re now spending more time with our eyes glued to the screen than gazing into our partners’ eyes.

“Mobile phones have a central part to play in our lives and new responsive technology is making them easier to use and more intuitive, while at the same time packed with more and more functions to make using the phone a more pleasurable experience.

“We’re seeing a new generation of phones that react more readily to their users and have truly become home entertainment devices.”
