It’s all been going down in Celebville this week, with two major celeb couples parting ways.

Michelle Williams and Jason Segel called time on their one year relationship claiming that the distance between them was making their relationship hard to maintain.

As well as that, Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have called quits on their two year relationship.

Although there has been no official comment on why they split, Rachel had previously mentioned that the distance causes problems for them, with Michael splitting his time between LA and Wales, and Rachel living in Canada.

This isn’t just a problem for highflying celebrities; it’s a very real problem for many couples all over the world.

In the internet and social media age, you really can meet anyone from anywhere and often find that you’re willing to try and make it work.

The internet of course makes it that much easier to stay in touch. You can Skype each other as well as keep in touch constantly via Whatsapp and couples apps such as Pair and Tokii.

But how long can these methods last before they become a lost cause?

Physical attention is something that we all crave, and we’re not just talking about sex.

Simply holding your partner’s hand or having them lay beside you at night is something that, as humans, we all crave in some way or another.

Although you may get to see your partner on a computer screen daily, nothing can compare to having them there with you.

You’ll also have to come to terms with that fact that one day, if your relationship is the work on a permanent level, one of you will have to make the leap and move.

Long distance relationships shouldn’t be taken lightly, they’re a commitment in themselves and if you’re going to give them a go then you should expect to have to work hard to keep your relationship afloat.
