There is stiff competition to be a matchmaker as Caroline Brealey has found out, after over 100 people have applied for the position as her junior.

The founder of the top dating agency in London, Mutual Attraction has decided to hire another person for her team since the business has gone from strength to strength.

The job was only advertised on two sites and the applications just kept pouring in from not just the UK but also in Europe and interestingly only one man applied for the job.

The money is attractive- with a £30,000 a year pay packet- the successful person will work as Caroline’s apprentice, learning all of her skills as a matchmaker.

Caroline now holds the title of not only the UK’s best matchmaker but also the world’s, so if you are going to learn from anyone- this is your woman.

People enter into this business in many different ways- Caroline left the voluntary sector three years ago and set up her personal matchmaking service from scratch.

Mutual Attraction specialises in people who have little time on their hands for romance; professionals who are looking for love and Caroline scours London’s social scene for the best match.

The key to having a matchmaking service that stands out is doing something different. Caroline does not expect her clients to analyse profile pictures, chat over forums nor does she expect them to have to spend hours looking through profile descriptions.

She spends her time getting to know each of her clients and then goes out and finds the perfect partner by meeting potentials on their behalf.

Caroline is still in the process of finding her top six for interview- but there is still time to apply as she won’t be making her decision until the end of the month- do you have what it takes?

Caroline commented: “Anyone who thinks that this job is a nine to five position then they’re going to have to think again, no two days are the same.

“The perfect matchmaker has to be someone who not only loves working with people but also believes in true love. After all if a matchmaker doesn’t believe in it, what hope is there for everybody else?

“A good Cupid will also thrive on listening to the stories our members share and be able to pick up on underlying factors that may have been stopping them from finding love before or not going the distance in a relationship.

“What sets Mutual Attraction apart from other dating agencies is that our service doesn’t end at just introducing people. We’re there to calm last minute first date nerves over the phone and also provide real advice about managing peoples’ expectations.

“There are no particular qualifications I’m looking for; in fact some of the best matchmakers I know come from a varied background.

“A degree in psychology may help some applicants, but the person who will ultimately get the job will be someone who can spot a good match instantly.”
