Check with them what they want on special occasions- If you buy them something they haven't asked for and you were a little unsure about anyway- it will be given away if they can find no use for it.
Their paperwork is immaculate- They have everything in apple pie order and don't keep any shred of paper they don't need. If you ask them nicely they would probably do the same for your papers too.
They have no out of date food in their cupboards- The check regularly for perishable stuff and throw it away even if it's a day out of date. They do put everything in date order so they waste as little as possible but sometimes they just don't eat things fast enough.
They have a 12 month rule- If you haven't used it in 12 months- it has to go- the only exception being Christmas decorations.
They aren't sentimental about stuff- You might have a strange affection for the socks your mum bought you with a hole in, however they don't and if they discover the hole- the offending item will be in the bin faster than you can say 'cold feet'.
They like to do things rather than have things- Having too much stuff makes them nervous- so rather than buying them ornaments and trinkets, get them an experience day instead because it takes up no space at home.
Be clear about what means a lot to you- If you leave things lying around they will throw them out- if you don't take care of your stuff it clearly has no meaning to you and is therefore expendable.
They have a secret hoard- Despite being ruthless in every other area of their life, they will have a memory box of your time as a couple. Filled with movie stubs, tags from gifts and cards you've sent them- they are not entirely heartless after all.
