What has he forgotten?

What has he forgotten?

Post It found that the average person forgets at least 4 things per day, but when it is your partner doing the forgetting it can be really frustrating!

The study found that adults generally forget 1460 things in a year! It compiled a list of the most common things we forget, sometimes things we should really not put on the back burner such as important messages and emails.

A spokesman for the Post It Brand from 3M, which commissioned the report, said:

”Our days are so jam packed full of tasks whether at work or at home, it’s no surprise people find it hard to keep track of everything.

”With much longer working hours, financial concerns and just busier lifestyles, even those with the best memory can stumble when it comes to remembering even the most simple of things during a hectic day.”

Women become more frustrated than men when they forget something, however it is likely something small. Men are more likely to forget something big like a birthday or anniversary, or most alarmingly a funeral.

Women admit that they remind their partner often to remember certain things and yet they will still forget, however we are more likely to lie if we have forgotten something rather than suffer the consequences.

Addie said:

‘Me and my partner have cinema pass. I have lost count of how many times he has forgotten it, so I now keep it in my purse so I know we won’t have to turn back home.’

Men are more relaxed about giving over important messages, which might go some way to explaining why women are more likely to remember things than Men. 54% of men admit that they rely on their partners to remember things for them.

A quarter of women say that they would rather go out of their way to do something rather than leave it to their man as they will likely forget.

Laura said:

‘My partner forget my birthday last year. I waited all day to get a text message or phone call and eventually text him asking why I had had contact from all of my family and friends and not my future fiancée. He said that he only remembered at 4 o clock when we were meeting to go to the cinema for my ‘birthday’ night out!’

Most worryingly, one in five dads have forgotten to pick up their children from school.

As a consequence, men are twice as likely to be thought of as a liability when it comes to being organised.

The Post It Brand spokesman added:

”Whether you’re forgetting big meetings at work or smaller things like leaving your lunch in the fridge, writing reminders on Post-it Notes can be key to keeping a hold on daily life.

”Even with smartphones and ever-increasing technological reminders, there’s nothing more effective than a brightly-coloured Post-it Note left on the fridge door or your office computer.
