Three quarters of Brits admit lying to their partners – with ‘I AM listening’ the number one fib, according to a new survey. We thought we would take a look at each one in turn and finally admit to what we actually mean.

'I am listening'- I’m not listening and I wasn’t listening before- please don’t ask me what you were just taking about. I was thinking about I want to eat next.
'I’m not in a bad mood'- I am in a very bad mood, it’s with you and you should know why.
'I only had one drink'- I had so many drinks that I’m up for anything in the bedroom tonight... even that.
'I didn’t see your text/call'- I did- how dare you text and call people other than me.
'You don’t look fat'- You do look a little chubby/rounded/cuddly- but I still love you. And you can’t judge me when I look fat now.
'I’m sticking to my diet'- I totally had chocolate and a bag of crisps while I was at work and you will NEVER know so the calories don't count.
'I had an orgasm'- I didn’t... but I know there’s always next time.
'This isn’t a new outfit'- It is and I’ve spent a fortune on it- please don’t find my credit card bill by mistake.
'Your belly doesn’t look big in that'- You need to buy a new shirt.
'I wasn’t looking at him'- I was but I know you are the only person who will put up with my s*it. A girl can dream.
'I didn’t break that'- I did. And we have no pets to blame it on- damn it.
'I was out with friends'- I was at home -in my onesie- eating chocolate spread out the jar- while watching Grey’s Anatomy. I just want you to think I have fun when you’re not around. Who am I kidding- that’s my idea of fun these days.
'I like your mates'- I tolerate them and I hate it when we have to go out as one big group.
'I’m saving the item of clothing you bought me for a special occasion'- I HATE it- what were you thinking when you bought it?
'I like your cooking'- I can be bothered to eat it when you can be bothered to make it.
'I didn’t eat that treat we were saving'- I did and I don’t regret it- there was more for me.
'I’ve never cheated on you'- I haven’t... I have dream cheated on you but that doesn't count.
'I like your parents'- In small doses.
'I don’t have a history with that person'- I slept with him/ sent him pictures of my boobs once.
'I didn’t put that dent/scratch on the car'- I did but I was hoping you wouldn’t notice.
