It’s National Pie Day- As we’ve already said- today is the day- if you’re going to eat a pie at any point on the calendar- it needs to be on the designated day, right?!

They satisfy both a sweet or savoury palate- If you lean towards the savoury- you can enjoy pork, steak, cheese and onion- but if your partner is a sucker for the sweet stuff- they can indulge in apple, cherry, pumpkin- or whatever they fancy.

They are the easiest thing to make for tea- Just buy one already made at your local bakery and you’re good to go or sling one in the oven and it will be ready in no time at all! Great if it’s your night to cook.

They are the ultimate indulgence- Obviously, they aren’t something you should eat on a regular basis- but that’s why they are so delicious when you do have them because you’ve waited a long time to splurge.

They come in different sizes- So if you want a little bit of naughty- you can get an individual pie each or if you want to go all out- you can get a whole one and cut a more generous slice for each other.

You can cook one together- If you want to get your bake on tonight- this is the perfect dish to get you started. One of you can be in charge of pastry while the other can get funky with the filling.

They cater for all preferences- If your partner is veggie and you’re a meat lover or one of you is gluten free- there’s not need to worry because you can get a pie to suit many different dietary requirements.

It’s an excuse to go out for tea- If you have a local pub that you know serves a mean pie then why not treat yourself? It saves on washing up!

Or you could just pop out for dessert- Eat your evening meal as normal and go to your local coffee house for afters!

If you get one big enough- You can celebrate pie day tomorrow as well with some luscious leftovers!
