Shaken Not Stirred: Shake Up Your Relationship

Shaken Not Stirred: Shake Up Your Relationship

When we've been in a relationship for a while, things can start to become a little boring and mundane.

It gets to a point where the excitement needs to be brought back and a new lease of life can be introduced into the relationship.

Here are some tips on how to shake up your relationship and get back into the long lost honeymoon phase once again!

Bring Back Date Night

One of the things that kept the spark alive in the beginning was the dating. There was a reason to dress up for each other every week and show each other off to the world.

It's nice to get out of the house and leave everyday troubles behind and just enjoy each other's company so bring back your date night.

Whether it be a cinema trip or romantic meal at that new restaurant, doing something different will inspire change in your relationship and will break your routine nicely.

Take a Holiday

Even if it's a long weekend in the Lake's, it's nice to get away from the daily chores and work and go and relax.

If you've got kids then ask a parent or friend to babysit and take some time to really focus on each other again, like it was in the beginning.

You'll find the art of conversation again and realise just how much you love each other when you're spending time solely with one another without distractions.

Try New Things in the Bedroom

You're never too old to try new things and this is especially true in the bedroom.

Generally, the longer you've been together the more sparse and predictable sex becomes between you so it's time for a change.

Actively try to have more sex and experiment with each other. Try new things and give encouragement to your partner as well as asking for it from them.

Discuss which positions you'd like to try and whether you'd both be comfortable with introducing toys. Once you've got comfortable with discussing things, the rest will fall into place.

Show the Love

Remember in the beginning when you used to tell each other 'I love you' every day? Well why did you stop?

Of course, you don't need to be saying it every minute but let you partner know you love them at least once a day - it's always nice to hear!

Little tokens of your love don't go a miss either. We're not talking diamond rings and dinner and The Ivy every day, but a bunch of their favourite flowers or their favourite magazine every so often is a nice surprise and will be appreciated.
