Freaky Friday

Freaky Friday

Oh men, they have such an easy life. Whilst us women frantically clean the house top to bottom, cook a meal and display it on the table and then do every other task along side it, men sit back and watch so no wonder they aren't envious of our daily routine.

A recent study revealed that more than half of husbands would happily decline the option to swap roles with women and see how their other half lives. The study of 1,000 men and 1,000 women showed 56% of blokes reckon they would fail to pair both housework and childcare successfully. So YES, we are superwomen and men seem to agree with 43% claiming they have 'no idea' how their other half multi-tasks so efficiently.

The weekly food shop (which most of us women actually enjoy), getting kids ready for school every day and doing the household chores alone has put men off the role reversal, never mind the 9 months of carrying a child, the constant unhappiness with our weight, restriction of what we can eat without feeling like a whale, menstrual cycle affecting our life every month and of course our mood swings.

Women also appear to be the more social sex, 70% of men would dislike having to impress family and friends with hosting skills and ability to run a beautiful house with perfect children.

While all this seems negative about a females duties we surprisingly enjoy it, it gives us a purpose and also proves that we are a much stronger sex than we are believed to be. We are the heart of a household and without women men would be clueless. Only 27% of women would change their lives and swap with their other half, perhaps as they would completely mess everything up (women can be control freaks). One third of women also said their other half would be utterly useless in their role, this statement might seem a little strong but i'm sure men would agree that cleaning is not their favourite hobby.

Janet Taylor, Diet and Health Manager for Co-operative Food, which commissioned the study to celebrate its support for the government's Change4Life Smart Swaps campaign, said: ''Even though, in many households, women also have full-time jobs, it seems that lots of other chores, including housework, running around after the kids and making sure everyone is organised, often falls to the female. Despite our differences, men and women are generally happy with their roles - and, as we all know, the key to running an efficient and healthy household is always teamwork."
