New research from RoxyPalace found that the sexiest accent was the lovely Irish accent, so we’ve picked out some of the sexiest Irish actors, whose Irish twangs we just can’t get enough of!
Colin Farrell
We absolutely love Colin Farrell here at FemaleFirst. He’s become Hollywood’s favourite Irishman and although he’s had his troubles, there is no denying he’s a great actor. There’s also the small matter of him being smoking hot, we can’t forget that!
Some of our favourite Colin Farrell films are Phone Booth back in 2002 when he was all baby-faced as Stu Sherpard, Miami Vice as Sonny Crockett and In Bruges where we get a taste of his beautiful accent.
He recently came back with a boom in Seven Psychopaths after a bit of a lull in his acting and we’re pleased to say he’s got plenty of projects in the pipeline!
Liam Neeson
He may be an older gent but Liam Neeson still does it for us! One of his best features is that no matter what film he is in, he always throws a bit of his Irish twang into his accent – brilliant!
He’s been acting since before the majority of the FemaleFirst office were born and he’s played a huge amount of roles, many of which were major successes.
Our favourites include Schindler’s List, Star Wars, Gangs of New York, Love Actually, Batman Begins, Taken and The A-Team.
Michael Fassbender
Alright, he’s only half Irish but that’s more than enough for us! He seems like an all-round nice guy who really does take on the persona of a typical Irishman, he likes to have a good time!
He’s one of the sexiest men on the planet and his acting is pretty top notch too. He’s played a myriad of roles, all of which have been exceptional.
Our favourite Michael Fassbender films are Hunger, Inglorious Basterds, Jane Eyre, X Men: First Class and Shame.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers
This man has a face like he was born for the catwalk, but as well as modelling he chose to go down the acting route, thank god.
He was born in Dublin and is a true Irish lad, he likes his drink! Unfortunately it’s something he’s battled with throughout his career, being in and out of rehab over the past few years.
He first caught our eye in Bend it Like Beckham and since then has gone on to act in Vanity Fair, Alexander, Match Point, Mission: Impossible III, From Paris with Love and The Tudors.
Chris O’Dowd
We can’t get enough of Chris O’Dowd, he’s geeky and that’s what makes him sexy. His accent is dreamy and he’s an all-round funny man – winner!
He’s been in plenty of films, giving the Irish a great name with his funny, charming and witty ways.
We loved him in The I.T Crowd but he also dazzled us in The Boat That Rocked, Dinner for Schmucks, Bridesmaids and The Sapphires.
Colin Morgan
He just won the NTA for the Male Drama Performance for his role in Merlin and the nation seemed to be shocked that Merlin was Irish, it was even trending on Twitter!
He isn’t particularly well known but he did star in The Catherine Tate Show and has now made a name for himself in Merlin.
Although we’re not too keen on his baby-faced looks in Merlin, when he’s being himself he looks and sounds delicious!
