Over 45s offer their advice on the best relationships!

Warner Leisure Hotels have found that expressing love differs across Britain so we find out what each part of the country deems a romantic gesture!

It’s always a good idea to go with advice from those who have stood the test of time and been together for a long time. So the over 45s were asked what they believed to be the perfect formula for a successful relationship and here is what they came up with:

LOVE = A large helping of listening to your partner (39%) + A good portion of spending time together (29%) + A generous sprinkling of making sure you never go to bed angry (17%) + A splash of making sure you give each other space (15%)

It seems that the young folk around the rest of the UK have different ideas about what love should look like:

Men in the South East believe that the ultimate gesture of love is helping with the household chores- maybe they can encourage those up north to do the same!

Londoners and men in the West Midlands are more traditional with an offering of flowers as means of showing their affection to their loved one.

The men in the South West like to splash their cash on their partners with a spontaneous trip away!

In East Anglia and the North West men believe that money is an empty gesture- and compliments are the way forward and they cost him nothing!

In the East Midlands and Northern Ireland the guys like to take their time out and make their women dinner- they believe the key to a woman’s heart is through her belly! In Scotland and the North East men are of the same mind-set- but put in less graft and just buy their ladies a bar or box of chocolate!

Welsh men are a bit more frisky and like to book a night away in a hotel for some loving away from home!

Hannah Sardar, PR Manager for Warner Leisure Hotels:

“It’s clear that each region has a different way of saying I love you. Relationships and romance require quality time together, trying new things as a couple and investment, but it’s the small things, such as cooking a meal or going on a spontaneous trip for the weekend, that really do make the difference.  No matter your age, or where in the country you live, it’s always important to make your partner feel special.”
