Dating agency Bowes-Lyon Partnership have let us in on the top three dating faux pas so we’re letting you know what they are and how you can avoid them!

Me, Me, Me

The biggest first date faux pas has to be talking about yourself for the entire date. All the people surveyed said that they found people who talked about themselves to be unattractive and off-putting.

There’s an easy way to avoid this, simply don’t talk about yourself constantly. It’s great to share parts of your life story on a first date but don’t take over the conversation.

Take turns in talking and if your date isn’t saying much then ask plenty of questions and encourage them to share!

Ex-Files

The second biggest first date faux pas was talking about your ex’s on your date. For obvious reasons this is a massive no go.

The idea of the first date is to see if you both have chemistry, which won’t become apparent if you’re talking about your ex.

If you find yourself mentioning your ex then quickly move away from the subject and move to a more light-hearted one.

Negativity

No one likes a grumpy pants so it’s unsurprising that the third biggest dating faux pas was being negative.

Talking about how annoyed you are about your bills or how your hair wouldn’t go right before the date will only put your date off and your negativity will rub off on them.

If something this brought your mood down before your date then use the date as an opportunity to feel good again. Enjoy it and let your date cheer you up!
