HotelTonight has found that many Brits think being spontaneous is giving their partner a kiss or a cuddle. Sadly this isn't satisfactory enough- partners secretly yearn for more. Here we five ideas if you feel you need a few more surprises up your sleeve.

Go for an unplanned meal

Go for an unplanned meal

Go out on a week night- So many couples write off week nights because you are supposed to get an early night for work the next day. Going out midweek for a meal, the cinema or for one drink at a trendy wine bar or a coffee in a swanky coffee house will break it up and prevent the monotany of sitting in front of the TV.

Go on date nights- You may already go out at weekends or during the week- but it no longer feels special. Why not get dressed up? Send each other a hand written invitation? Or mail one to their work? Anything to make it feel like more of an event than just an excuse to leave the house.

Book a hotel- It doesn't have to be far away from your home- it's just for a change of scenery. You can pick up nights away for as little as £50 so if you have the money to spare- pack a few things, get in the car and go.

Have sex somewhere new- If you only ever have sex in bed- it's time to mix things up. Make a rule that you can't have sex in your own bedroom for a few weeks and let your imaginations take over.

Get a couple's tattoo- If you really want to push the boat out- you could pick a symbol or image that means a lot to you both and go and get inked together. It doesn't have to be a big tattoo- just something discreet to mark your love for one another.
