It’s a well-known fact that men often mature later than women but it appears that it may be worse than we first thought.

New research shows that women believe men to finally mature at the age of 43, that’s a massive 11 years after women.

It’s the women who have to take the brunt of their partner’s immaturity, having to suffer their partner burping, passing wind and playing video games.

The research was commissioned by Nickelodeon UK to mark the launch of the new show Wendell & Vinnie, showing weeknights at 7:00pm.

Tim Patterson VP, Director of Programming, Nickelodeon UK, said, “As a man, especially one who works for a children’s channel, the question if men ever reach maturity is one I am well accustomed to.

“However as the characters Wendell and Vinnie show in our new programme, a difference in maturity between two people definitely makes for an amusing partnership.”

Women were twice as likely to say that they were the mature one in the relationship.

To add to this, a quarter of women said that their partner was so immature that any decision making was left up to them to handle.

Three in ten women said that they have broken up with a man because he was too immature and 46 per cent of women said they had been in a relationship where they felt more like a mother than a girlfriend.

The research found that women will tell their partner to ‘act their age’ more than 14 times a year!

Immaturity can have its upsides though, with 40 per cent of women saying it is important as it keeps the relationship fun and fresh.

Women also believe that their partner being immature can help for when they have children as it helps the child bond with their father.
