The 'Suits' star joined her boyfriend at the Olympics-style games for injured service personnel in Toronto, Canada but refrained from sitting with Harry and instead was seated in the VIP area whilst Harry's security team looked on.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward, who is the editor in chief of Majesty Magazine, commented: "I think Prince Harry has certainly learnt over the years that putting his girlfriends in the front line simply makes life impossible for everyone. He probably had to explain to Meghan - who wouldn't necessarily understand - why she couldn't be at his side.

"It was much better that she was in the VIP stands with other spectators otherwise the focus would have been entirely on her. Distracting from the point of the games. I think it marks a very important step in their relationship. But it would have been extremely insulting if she hadn't been there. It's her home city and he is her boyfriend after all!"

And the flame-haired royal is showing how "serious" he is about Meghan by not having her sit with him at the event.

Seward added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She might feel a bit stupid not being at his side but Prince Harry has such strong feelings about the games and the media. If he wants to conduct a proper relationship with Megan he has to carry it out in his own way and time.

"In an ideal world he would like her stuck to his side but obviously It would totally detract from the event which he has put a lot of energy into getting right. It shows a maturity on his part and shows how serious this relationship is. If you look back his former girlfriend Chelsy Davy was always at his side."
